DIVERGENT - The Most Successful E-Book (to date) is all set at the Bigscreen on March 20

The HarperCollins Publishers most successful e-book to date, in terms of sales and  the Favorite book of 2011 in 2011's Goodreads Choice Awards – DIVERGENT is all set to be shown in the bigscreen on March 20, 2014 in the Philippines and March 21, 2014 in the United States.

Divergent is an upcoming fictional adventure film directed by Neil Burger, based on the debut hit novel of American author Veronica Roth and the first installment in the Divergent trilogy. This story set within a dystopian version of Chicago, wherein the city is divided into 5 factions: Abnegation, meant for the selfless; Amity, meant for the peaceful; Candor, meant for the honest; Dauntless, meant for the brave; and Erudite, meant for the knowledgeable. On a given day each year, all sixteen-year-olds take an aptitude test that will tell them for which faction they are best suited. After receiving the results of their test, they must decide whether to remain with their family or transfer to a new faction.

According to writer Evan Daugherty,  the movie was tough but of equal importance of the love story between Tris and Four played by Shailene Woodley (Tris) and Theo James (Four). It's inherently and inextricably linked to Tris' character journey. There will be plenty of sexual tension and chemistry, but it's important that all of that stuff doesn't just feel like it's thrown in, but that it all helps Tris grow as a character. Other stars included are Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, and Kate Winslet. Ansel Elgort will be Shailene Woodley’s brother in this film before they play their roles as lovers in the Upcoming film Fault in Our Stars in June this year.

Author Veronica Roth said about the script of the film:

"Reading a script is a really interesting experience. I'd never read a script before. I was really impressed by how closely it stuck to the general plot line of the book."

Initially budget of the film was $40 million but later Lionsgate increased it to $80 million due to the success of The Hunger Games.  Analyst Ben Mogil said, "Divergent is more similar to Hunger Games in that the company owns the underlying economics and the budget is more manageable.

Some reviews about the book (Divergent) for additonal ideas on how the book was received since the film was not shown yet: In a review in The New York Times, Susan Dominus wrote that it was "rich in plot and imaginative details", but also that, compared to other such books in the same genre as the Hunger Games trilogy, it did "not exactly distinguish itself".  Kirkus Reviews said it was "built with careful details and intriguing scope".Common Sense Media commented on the book's "deep messages about identity and controlling societies" and on the "unstoppable plot that's remarkably original". It was rated 5 out of 5 stars and given an age 12+ rating.  (wikipedia.com)
